House Alarms
Visible evidence of a house alarm is an excellent deterrent and will make thieves think twice. Some insurers may require a house alarm as part of your contents policy, others may offer a discount if you have a house alarm.
False alarms can be a problem, particularly with audible house alarms.
Make sure the home alarm system is designed, installed and maintained to comply with the appropriate British Standard. If you have an unreliable house alarm, it should be replaced
The external and internal alarm sounds of your home alarm should cut out after 20 minutes to be replaced by a flashing light
The contact details of two key-holders must be given to a police station if you put in a new house alarm or take over an old one.
The house alarm should not be triggered during normal opening and closing operations.
